early gym

A small blog post, but I’ve finally started going back to the gym months after coming back from a trip. As much as I don’t like going the gym, I know that it is healthy, so I go.

I also go because I also know that food and drink have calories that won’t go away on their own. If we’re being honest, this is the more legitimate reason for me to go to the gym. Nothing else, really.

As I’m sure you’ve suspected from the title, I have been going in the early morning. I now wake up at 5:30am and try to get to the gym around 6am. It’s a mean time to wake up, but I realized that if I didn’t do it first thing in the morning, I would not go to the gym at all.

It struck me randomly when I was showering that it was either I go early or right after work. Since work is often unpredictable and I also enjoy decompressing at a coffee shop afterwards, I elected to go in the morning.

I didn’t like the decision I made. In fact, the first morning I woke up, I had slept extremely poorly and felt like death. Still, after a period of groaning and moaning, I rolled out of the bed and biked to the gym.

Going to sleep earlier and waking up earlier isn’t fun, but oh well, it’ll get easier as it goes. At least I’m resuming the habit which is what really matters anyways.
